Full Doll Tutorial

Whoot! You've got your hair done, and now it's time to progress onto clothes! Clothes are pretty basic, but pay attention anyway!

Step Seven

Create a new layer, and drag it underneath all of the hair layers.

As with the hair, we're going to start by drawing the outline of the clothes. Once you've done that, clean it up, and fill it in with a lighter color. Pretty standard XD

Step Eight

Next we're going to start shading! As with the hair, pick the color of the outline with the eyedropper tool, create a new layer, and group it. We will be using a one pixel brush. While we used an opacity of "100%" on the hair, we will be using an opacity of "75%" for this. The opacity should be altered depending on the color and texture of the fabric. An opacity anywhere from "50%" to "80%" is best.

Using you're brush detail in the folds, etc. We are not focusing on major shading here, just the folds. However, you do want to note the light source, and put in mild shading. (EG. On the sides, underneath her breasts, etc)

Step Nine

So, using the same brush, but with a color lighter than the color you filled it in with, add in all of the highlights on the shirt. Pretty basic xD

Step Ten

Remember what we did with the hair, where we merged it all, undid it, and copy and pasted it? You want to do that again with the shirt :) Group the layer, and grab the smudge tool. We want the size sort of medium, with a low strength. Mine is set to size "5" and strength "19%".

Duplicate the layer.

Next, we want to grab the dodge and burn tool again. Using a fairly large size, around "5" to "15" depending on the size of your base and what you're shading. Shade the sides and and center, where it would be highlighted and shaded. xD Okay, bad explanation but I'm sure you understand. I decided mine was a little to strong, so I lowered the opacity on the dodge n' burn layer to "50%"

Step Eleven

This is the last step in clothes. Go back to your origional layer, and using the magic wand tool, select the outline. Go back to all of your shading layers and press the "delete" button. This allows the outline to show through. Chances are the outline is lighter than some of the darkest parts, because of you're dodging and burning. So go back to the origional layer and color the outlines a darker color than the darkest shade in the top.
